'Little Couple, Big World' Stars Amy and Matt Roloff Separate After 26 Years

"Little People, Big World" couple Amy and Matt Roloff have separated after 26 years of marriage. The couple was one of the very first featured on TLC as part of their reality series. They were quick to say that this is a trial separation and one that was needed.

"Matt remains living on the farm in our guest house and we work together everyday on the farm, on our business endeavors and most importantly, raising our amazing children," the couple said in a joint statement to People.

"Amy and I had a lot of tension, so right around Thanksgiving I thought I would move over to the bridal house for a little bit and we'll try that. Amy and I stuck it out for years and years when maybe we shouldn't have," Matt explained. "I never quite felt at home in my own home so something needed to change. We needed to try something different."

The couple spent many years in the limelight after inviting cameras to film every aspect of their lives as little people living in an average-sized world. Together, they raised twins Jeremy and Zack, now 23; Molly, 20; and Jacob, 17. They ran a farm and several exhibits on their land, including a frontier area and a newer wedding venue.

"I think what Matt and I failed to do over many, many years is learned to live together," Amy added. "It's not my choice for him to leave. I am saddened by it. We don't have a plan as far as how we are going to work this out, so it's not going to be easy."

Viewers will be able to catch up with the Roloff family in a new special airing later this month. The special will feature updates on all the children as well as address the separation between Matt and Amy. Both still thank their viewers for support.

"We sincerely appreciate the unwavering support, understanding and prayers from our family, friends and many fans. May God bless you," the couple said.
