Liverpool Football Club Transfer News: Reds Sign Daniel Sturridge
With the English Premier League's transfer window only a few days old, one of the biggest clubs in English football has signed one of the most promising young strikers in the League.
On Wednesday, Liverpool Football Club confirmed the signing of striker Daniel Sturridge from Chelsea after weeks of speculation and rumors.
The 23-year-old English international is the first signing for Liverpool of the January transfer window when he inked the deal at Liverpool's training ground in Melwood.

"I am humbled and happy to be here," Sturridge told Liverpoolfc.com after signing his contract.
"Brendan Rodgers said he sees me here for a long time - and I also see myself here for a long time. I've not signed here to play for a couple of years and then move on … I've signed to be here for as long as possible. It's a humongous club - for me, one of the biggest in the world - and to have the fans and world-class players we have here is amazing," he added.
Sturridge made the move to Liverpool after three seasons with last year's European Champions Chelsea after he saw his playing time steadily decrease under the club's last three managers. Sturridge started 49 games and made 47 substitute appearances in three and a half years at Stamford Bridge, netting a total of 24 goals.
Still, scouts highly regard the striker, who is thought to be the next great English forward. Having scored 21 goals in 34 appearances for England at youth level, the English national team gave him his first international start at the senior level in Nov. 2011 against Sweden
Liverpool faces Sunderland on Wednesday with Sturridge expected to be in the stands at Anfield. He could make his team debut for the club against Mansfield Town in the team's FA Cup third round match on Sunday.
