Lofree Mechanical Keyboard Release Date, Specs, Price News: Typewriter-Inspired Keyboard Is Perfect for Nostalgic Consumers

Consumers who have come to enjoy the technologies available in the 21st century but, at the same time, still find themselves feeling nostalgic for things of the past will be delighted with Lofree's mechanical keyboard which features a retro and elegant design inspired by traditional typewriters.

The crowd-funded computer peripheral uses Gateron Blue mechanical switches that mimic the sound of a typewriter when the spherical round keycaps are pressed.

Lofree's keyboard also differentiates itself from other mechanical keyboards, which usually tend to be marketed for gamers, by having a simple, clean and contemporary appearance. It eschews the typical bulky design of the gaming-focused keyboards. As such, this device is ideal for writers or more casual typists.

Despite being made from plastic, the Lofree mechanical keyboard is sturdy and its 6-degree angle allows users to type comfortably. It is also back-lit with three available settings.

The device can be operated in two modes: Wired, which relies on a cable, and Wireless, which uses Bluetooth connectivity to pair with compatible devices. Users can shift between these options by using the switch on the side of the keyboard.

The Lofree mechanical keyboard features the same layout as a Mac keyboard so it is able to mimic the same functions like adjusting the brightness and volume via the function keys. Nevertheless, the keyboard is not limited to Mac and iOS devices. It is also compatible with Windows and Android devices.

The 4,000 mAh battery ensures long-lasting battery life, which can be further prolonged with the auto-sleep function. It only takes around five hours to fully charge the keyboard and depending on the settings that are activated, can last for about 720 hours to 15 months.

The keyboard is available in three colors: Pure White, Turquoise Blue and Sandstone Black.

The Lofree mechanical keyboard is available on Indiegogo for $74 and deliveries are expected to commence in May. By June, it will be available in retailers like Amazon for $99.
