'Longmire' Season 5 Release Date, Rumors: Show Returns September 2016 On Netflix; Showrunners Throw Comment At A&E

Barely a month after the release of its fourth season, Netflix confirmed that the hit western action drama series "Longmire" will be getting a Season 5. However, the details as to when the next installment will be made available for binge watching in the streaming service network has yet to be revealed.

The latest rumors circulating (via Yibada.com) suggest that the former A&E series will premiere sometime in September, next year. Needless to say, this information should be taken with a grain of salt unless duly confirmed by parties involved.

Meanwhile, executive producers Greer Shephard and John Coveny expressed their thanks to Netflix for putting its faith on the show once again. The former, on his part, particularly commended the network for giving more value on viewers rather than the demographics. Earlier reports had already revealed that A&E had to forgo the plans to renew the series because despite its huge following, they still couldn't sell it to advertisers.

Coveny, on the other hand, pointed out Netflix's courage to gamble on the show.

Apparently, the EPs aren't the only ones happy with the transition. Cast member Lou Diamond Phillips has also commented on the big changes that the transfer has brought to the hit show.

In an interview with Variety, the portrayer of Henry Standing Bear thinks that being on Netflix gives them more freedom to tell their story the way they want it to.

"We were previously constrained to 42 minutes and as a result, a lot of my work hit the floor. With an additional 20 minutes, we can let those moments breathe and round out those characters and it's a much more cinematic experience episode to episode," he told the media outlet.

The network itself seems grateful for "Longmire." In a statement, Netflix said that their company needs exactly the heart and soul that the show possesses.
