'Longmire' Season 6: Lou Diamond Phillips Directs Second Episode
Production for "Longmire" is already underway and the cast is currently in New Mexico to film the sixth and final season of the Netflix series.
It has been revealed that principal photography is taking place in various areas of New Mexico, including Santa Fe, Las Vegas, Valles Caldera, Pecos and Glorieta. Filming will continue until mid-June.
"Season 6 of such an acclaimed TV show demonstrates the incredible vitality of the New Mexico television scene," Nick Maniatis, New Mexico State Film Office Director, said (via KRWG). "The return of 'Longmire' is a testament to New Mexico crews, actors and support services that have helped make the show great for so long."

The upcoming season will consist of 10 episodes and will be the last for the show. Unfortunately, Netflix did not reveal the reason behind their decision to issue a cancellation.
It can be recalled that the previous season ended with Henry Standing Bear, played by Lou Diamond Phillips, in grave danger at the hands of Graham Greene's Malachi Strand. Fans are wondering whether Henry will make it out alive, but they are definitely keeping their fingers crossed for the best.
It looks like Henry will still be a part of the sixth season, though, since Phillips confirmed his location via Twitter a week ago. Phillips also revealed that he will be directing the second episode of the final season.
Season 6 is also expected to see Robert Taylor's titular character continuing his duties as the sheriff of Absaroka. There has also been talk of Walt Longmire and Vic (Katee Sackhoff) hitting it off romantically, but it remains to be seen if there is any truth to this.
Netflix has yet to announce a release date for the final season of "Longmire," but it is widely believed that it will arrive sometime in the fall, with September being the popular opinion. This is mostly based on the streaming giant's historical pattern.
