Los Angeles Lakers News 2015: Coach grants 'frustrated' Kobe Bryant a day-off from practice

Los Angeles Lakers head coach Byron Scott granted franchise player Kobe Bryant a day-off from practice.

This, after "The Black Mamba's" piled up frustrations about his performance during the Lakers' opening games. Bryant felt responsible for his team's 103-93 loss to the Dallas Mavericks at home on Sunday night, that he even questioned his own skills and capabilities.

"I'm the 200th-best player in the league right now," the 37-year old Bryant said in a previous report by ESPN.com. "I freaking suck. I just can't make a shot."

Head coach Byron Scott was fully aware and in control of the situation regarding one of his most prized players, and has been the understanding mentor, so far.

"I don't know. I know he's not happy with it. He's disappointed with the way he's shooting the ball. He's playing hard. He's competing just like he always does. I think it's a matter of time."

"He's just trying to get that feel back again," Scott added.

In another report by ESPN, Scott even went as far as granting Bryant a day off from practice, with the hopes that his player would be able to clear his head and get back into the rhythm of things.

"I said, just stay away from the gym today," Scott told Bryant after the team's practice session on Monday. "Just spend some time with your kids and family and get basketball off your mind for 24 hours if you can -- which I don't think he can -- and then come in tomorrow fresh and we'll go from there."

The Lakers are not off to a good start so far, holding a 0-4 record. In those four games, Bryant has been averaging 17.3 points on 31.3 percent field goal shooting and 20.7 percent from the three-point range.

The team is slated to play against the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday, November 7th, at the Barclay's Center in New York.
