Los Angeles Lakers News 2015: Byron Scott blames fatigue for team's loss against Sacaramento Kings
Los Angeles Lakers head coach Byron Scott believes fatigue may have played a huge factor in his team's loss to the Sacramento Kings last week.
In a report by ESPN.com's Baxter Holmes, Scott's assessment was based on watching the game on video. The Lakers lost to the Kings, 132-114.
Scott did take some steps to address the issue. One of which was personally speaking with forward Brandon Bass in a team meeting on Saturday morning.
"Because I know how hard he plays and on tape, I saw him kind of laboring. My whole thought process with that is, if he was tired, I know there was a lot of other guys tired as well."
Scott adds that while he is contemplating on revamping his approach on coaching by possibly cutting down hours of practice sessions, it will still depend on his players and how they will be handling the situation. "If I do that, they've got to be extremely focused on what we have to do that day and let's get it done," he adds. "Then hopefully have enough energy to come out and play as hard as I know we're capable of playing."
A former Laker himself, Byron Scott has made a reputation through the workouts he imposes on his players. According to him, it is a way to build the mental toughness and endurance of his wards. This method, in turn, earned a number of criticisms, particularly during the Lakers' pre-season training camp in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The 54-year old Scott took over the Lakers' head coaching duties in 2014, succeeding Mike D'Antoni's two-year stint. Unfortunately for him, he was not able to bring the former "Showtime" team back to glory, as the Lakers ended the 2014-2015 with a 21-61 record, placing 14th overall in the NBA's Western Conference.
It also marked the team's first 60 loss in the history of the entire franchise.
The Los Angeles Lakers are currently 0-3, with their last loss coming in the hands of the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday night with a 103-93 tally.
