Los Angeles Lakers vs.Oklahoma Thunder Preview: Thunder Approaches Season Tail End as They Face Lakers for One Last Time
The third-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder are aiming to end their year with on a high note, as they take on the cellar-dwelling Los Angeles Lakers in the second to the last game of the season.
The fourth game between both teams is scheduled to take place on Monday, April 11th, at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City.
The Thunder emerged victorious in all three games, with the first game between both teams took place last December 19th, in Oklahoma.
The home team ended the contest with a final score of 118-78. In their blowout victory, it was superstar forward Kevin Durant who scored the most, dropping 22 points, along with eight rebounds and two assists, shooting 7 out of 13 from the field, through 29 minutes of playing time.
The second game last December 23rd in Los Angeles showed another dominant performance from Oklahoma, as they ended the night with a final score of 120-85. This time, it was point guard Russell Westbrook who came out big for his team, scoring 23 points, along with eight rebounds, eight assists, and two steals, shooting 10 out of 19 from the field, through 29 minutes of playing time.
Durant also made significant contributions, scoring 21 points, along with seven rebounds and five assists, shooting 7 out of 9 from the field, through 27 minutes of playing time.
The third game last January 8th was a more tightly contested one, but the Thunder still managed to come out with the win, with a final score of 117-113.
Lakers' shooting guard Lou Williams came up big for the Purple & Gold team, dropping 44 points, two rebounds, and two assists, shooting 12 out of 25 from the field, through 34 minutes of playing time. But his efforts were not enough to lift his team up to victory, as Durant and Westbrook were able to come up big in the fourth quarter.
Westbrook was the night's highest scorer for Oklahoma, scoring 36 points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists, shooting 11 out of 24 from the field, through 34 minutes of playing time.
The Thunder currently hold a win-loss slate of 54-26.
