Los Angeles Rams get top pick in trade with Titans

The Los Angeles Rams made perhaps the biggest move of the NFL offseason after getting the No.1 overall pick of the upcoming draft through a trade with the Tennessee Titans. Although the swap appears to favor the Rams, they actually may have given up more than they had to.

The Titans in return got the Rams' 15th overall pick as well as two second-round picks and one third-rounder. Likewise, the Rams also gave up their first and third round selections for next year's draft. All in all, Tennessee is now the owner of six of the top 76 pick in the draft, according to USA Today.

The Rams did give up a lot of prospects in the hope of boosting their squad with the best player come April 28, but it somehow showed that they really are in dire need of a quarterback who has what it takes to become the future of the franchise.

To date, the two most prolific quarterback prospects in this year's class are Carson Wentz of North Dakota State and Jared Goff of California. Quite interestingly, the owner of the second pick, Cleveland Browns, are also looking to pick a quarterback. So this means the Rams can choose between Wentz and Goff, with the one left behind most probably going to the Browns, barring any sudden change of heart.

Los Angeles has been hoping to finally land a quarterback who could transform the team into title contenders. They have experimented with several prospects in the past but no one hasn't been able to make a lasting impression. Though they might have given up a lot to get this top pick, it certainly looks like they're more focused on getting the best out of the draft than selecting several high picks other than the top overall.

As for the Titans, giving up the No.1 pick was something they could afford because they need to fill several spots in their roster, and trading that top pick with several high picks puts them in the ideal position to fill those spots.
