Lotto Mistake: $14M Won by California Woman Who Bought Extra Ticket
A lotto mistake has ended up making $14M for one woman in California last week.
According to reports, Thuan Le, a single mother with four sons, had always bought her lottery ticket every week on Wednesday from a local CVS store near her home. The woman has explained that she always spends $5 - $4 on Powerball tickets and $1 on a SuperLotto Plus ticket.
However, last week she accidentally put $6 into the machine instead of the usual $5, and so rather than try to get her $1 back, she instead simply purchased an extra SuperLotto Plus ticket.

It was that extra ticket that ended up winning her $14 million.
The California Lottery has posted on its website: "She accidentally put $6 in the self-service terminal and bought her tickets. When she realized she still had $1 in credit, she thought, 'I might as well get another SuperLotto Plus ticket.' That 6th ticket was the winner."
The press release also described: "When she ran her SuperLotto Plus ticket through the terminal and realized she had won a $14 million jackpot, she ran screaming out of the store!
"Luckily, Le received the information on how to claim her ticket and went to the California Lottery's Santa Ana District Office to do just that."
Le said has explained that she plans to use her winnings to buy a new house and travel to Vietnam with her parents.
The CVS where Le purchased her ticket will get about $70,000 from the California lottery for being the outlet to sell the winning ticket.
