Lou Williams Trade Rumors 2017: Washington Wizards, Utah Jazz Eyeing Los Angeles Lakers Player

The Feb. 23 trade deadline is fast approaching, and rumors surrounding Los Angeles Lakers' Lou Williams are spreading. The Washington Wizards are apparently eyeing to acquire him, but they may have competition in the form of the Utah Jazz.

It is undeniable that Williams is one of the most sought-after players right now. He is currently averaging 18.6 points per game, which is the highest he has achieved in his career so far. However, it has been pointed out that it does not make him safe from being traded off, especially with the recent shocking move by the Sacramento Kings in trading away DeMarcus Cousins.

According to CBS Sports, the Washington Wizards are very interested in Williams. It is no secret that the team is on a roll right now, but they do need a high bench scorer on their side. This is where Williams comes in. The Wizards are apparently willing to give the Lakers their 2017 first-round pick in exchange for 2015's Sixth Man of the Year.

"[The Wizards] feel like if there's a wing player that they can get out on the trade market -- Lou Williams with the Lakers, they have interest in, Bojan Bogdanovic with the Nets," The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski said. "Washington has shown an inclination to give up a future draft pick, a first-round pick, potentially even in this draft, to get a veteran who may even turn out to be a rental for them."

However, it remains to be seen if the Wizards' offer is sweet enough for the Lakers, especially with the Utah Jazz reportedly involved in the picture. According to ESPN's Ian Begley, Utah Jazz is looking to acquire Williams, and it is expected that he will end up being traded before the deadline.

Only time will tell whether Williams will end up with the Wizards or the Jazz. Stay tuned for the latest news and updates.
