'Love and Hip Hop' K. Michelle Fires Back at Memphitz's Defamation Lawsuit

"Love and Hip Hop Atlanta" star Kimberly "K. Michelle" Pate has responded to a defamation lawsuit that was recently filed by her ex-boyfriend Memphitz Wright.

The reality TV star has refused to back down and stands by her accusations that she was subject to domestic violence at the hands of Memphitz throughout the duration of their relationship. Her explosive claims prompted him to sue the Vh1 network for airing the reality show, which K. Michelle recently credited for giving her a platform to speak her "truth."

"I¹ve always been told that the truth shall set you free. I stand behind my story 100%. I came on the 'Love & Hip Hop Atlanta' show mainly because I wanted to give a voice and bring light to a very serious issue," K. Michelle told TMZ.com.

"I am very grateful to Vh1 and Monami Ent. for the opportunity to tell my story, and touch lives worldwide ... I look forward to having my day in court and finally having the truth of my story confirmed in a court of law," she went on.

On Tuesday, it was announced that Memphitz hired attorney Conti J. Moore of Conti Moore Law, PLLC as his legal representation before filing a legal complaint against Viacom International, NFGTC, Inc., and Mona's Monami Entertainment.

K. Michelle, 26, has since retained her own legal representation, attorney Matt Middleton, and vows to challenge Memphitz's claims that she is lying about the assault claims to ultimately help other victims.

"Hopefully others will not have to go through this and then have their stories challenged to this degree because people now want to try to salvage whatever reputation they may have had," K. Michelle said.

After recently filing suit, Memphitz explained that "the filing of this suit is to compensate for the irreparable damage that has been done to my reputation," he said in a statement.

In support of his client, Moore blasted the reality star and suggested that she is a liar and an opportunist who has no proof to support her claims.

"[K. Michelle] has taken full advantage of society's tendency to accept claims of domestic violence as always being true, even in the absence of proof. The only abuse that actually occurred is the malicious and calculated pattern of vicious lies Ms. Pate has assailed for the purpose of fabricating a compelling story line in an attempt to ruin [Memphitz's] name," Moore said in a statement.
