'Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood' News: Rose Burgandy and Hazel-E Face Social Media Backlash Following LGBT Comments
Reality stars and couple Rose Burgandy and Hazel-E are the latest celebrities to face backlash from social media followers after they made a comment aimed at LGBT people.
The couple are recurring cast members of the reality show "Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood" aired on VH1.
Burgandy recently posted a photo on Instagram where a rainbow flag -- which LGBT people hold as representation of their community -- was seen burning. The same post was accompanied with a caption where the rapper shared where he stood about gays.
According to TMZ, Burgandy's social media rant was likely ignited by rumors accusing the rapper of being gay. Meanwhile, Hazel-E commented on her partner's Instagram post and said: "Burn in hell just like God said in the Bible."
The couple's social media posts were immediately met with backlash, and it was not long before Hazel-E posted another video to clarify her point.
In a video posted in the same TMZ report, Hazel-E addressed the controversy and said she was "not justifying" her partner's social media post. She added that she felt "horrible" that the LGBT community was upset with her, noting that they supported her before and that her world would "fall apart" without them.
She then explained what prompted her boyfriend's post. Hazel-E said Burgandy was responding to a person who allegedly made and spread fake information to prove the accusations that he was gay.
To counter the accusations, Burgandy then decided to post the photo of a burning rainbow flag, according to Hazel-E.
The 'Actin Up' rapper then said her "Burn in hell" comment was intended for the particular person allegedly spreading lies about her partner and not for the entire LGBT community.
Hazel-E added that she cannot rewrite what the Bible says about homosexuality. However, on the very topic of whether gay people should be burned in hell, the female rapper only commented: "I'm not God. I can't judge you."
