'Lucifer 3' Spoilers: Angel Wings Will Spawn His Dark Side

Lucifer (Tom Ellis) got his angel wings back last season. Instead of siding with good, in "Lucifer" season 3, it will give him all the more reason to embrace his dark side.

Speaking to TV Guide, showrunner Ildy Modrovich said that the titular character will behave exactly how he has been behaving in the previous seasons. Lucifer (Tom Ellis), who despises anything imposed upon him, will do the opposite of he is expected to do.

"So when Lucifer gets the feeling his dad either wants him to be an angel again or feels like he's worthy of being an angel again, Lucifer decides that he has to be the Devil all the more," co-showrunner Joe Henderson added.

Lucifer eventually learns that he got his wings back not from his father but from his new nemesis, Sinnerman, who has done so to manipulate him. While the showrunners did not say much about what he wants with the devil, they did admit that the new police lieutenant Marcus Pierce (Tom Welling) will team up with Lucifer to hunt him down.

As revealed in a sneak peek into the upcoming season, Pierce is an authoritative and commanding guy, quite the opposite of Lucifer. Despite their difference in character, the Sinnerman will bring them together.

When asked about next season's big bad, Modrovich said that he is a "badass." The showrunner teased that the Sinnerman will have a hidden connection to some of the characters in the show, which Lucifer has to face when he figures it out.

Henderson said that Lucifer and Sinnerman are alike in some way, with the latter being a darker version of the former. Both of them like giving out favors. But unlike the title role, the Sinnerman's demands are more wicked.

"Lucifer" season 3 premieres Monday, Oct. 2 at 8 p.m. EDT on FOX.
