"Lucifer" Season 3 News: Show Relocating to Los Angeles For Upcoming Season
After filming its first two seasons in Vancouver, "Lucifer" is relocating its production to Los Angeles for its third season. The cast and crew of the upcoming season have been informed just recently about the move.
The show has reportedly been submitted to the California Film Commission's most recent round of TV applications, where relocating series are usually prioritized. "Likely to strengthen the show's submission, Fox renewed 'Lucifer' for a third season on Feb. 13, in the middle of the Feb. 10 to Feb. 17 tax credit application window, with a full-season 22-episode pickup," reported Deadline.
According to the publication, the Film Commission will most likely officially announce the new batch of TV projects that have been approved for tax credits on March 20. Previously, the Commission approved Fox's "Scream Queens" and HBO's "Ballers" for tax credits.
Last Feb. 22, Fox also announced the renewal of "Lethal Weapon," also set in Los Angeles. Since it does not currently receive a tax credit, it is unknown if the show was also submitted to the commission for tax credit approval.
"Lucifer," produced by Warner Bros. Television and Jerry Bruckheimer Television, is based on characters created by Sam Keith, Neil Gaiman and Mike Dringenberg for DC Entertainment. Its executive producers are Jonathan Littman, Jerry Bruckheimer, Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson.
The second season of the series returned on May 2016 and has been running head-to-head with Fox's "Gotham." Deadline reported that while the Fox series has been receiving more attention than "Lucifer," both series has been averaging 1.1 adults 18-49 rating in Live+Same Day and 1.9 in L+7.
"Lucifer" tells the story of Lucifer Morningstar, the original fallen angel. Unhappy as the Lord of Hell, he left his throne for Los Angeles, where he has joined forces with LAPD detective Chloe Decker to take down criminals.
The series currently airs on Mondays at 9 p.m. EST on FOX
