Luke Skywalker Actor Mark Hamill Supports UK Football Team

It seems that The Force is strong with the Wolverhampton Wanderers after they picked up a new celebrity fan over the weekend in the form of Mark Hamill. While the Star Wars actor admitted that he hasn't heard of the team before, a minor mix-up on social media saw Luke Skywalker pledge his allegiance to the Wolves.

It all started when the 65-year-old actor liked a tweet sent to him by a Wolves fan assuming it was in reference to the animal. When he realized his mistake, however, the frenzied reaction by wolf fans led him to go all-in and declare his support for Old Gold cause.

According to Hamill, the Wolves made him feel like family even when he hadn't heard of the team before. The club was quick to bring Hamill to the fold extending a welcoming hand at light speed.

With the Jedi master now among their followers, the Wolverhampton Wanderers went on to beat Millwall 1-0 at Molineux on Saturday. It seems that The Force is already working its mysterious powers on the team.

Meanwhile, Hamill is set to return for an eighth episode of Star Wars this December. The actor recently talked about his role in the film and if his character is going to wield a lightsaber.

Speaking with GQ, Hamill talked about the Star Wars set and its extravagance. According to him, the set alone could have funded 30 low budget flicks which really tell fans about the scale of the upcoming film.

During the interview, Hamill also praised fellow actor Benedict Cumberbatch particularly for his voice roles, but not before demonstrating his very best impression of Chewbacca. Mark Hamill is GQ's Icon of the Year at the 2017 Men of the Year awards in partnership with Hugo Boss.

Star Wars episode 8 is set to hit theaters on Dec. 13, 2017.
