L'Wren Scott Dead: Mick Jagger's Longtime Girlfriend Commits Suicide

Fashion designer L'Wren Scott was reportedly found dead of an apparent suicide in New York on Monday.

The model, born Luann Bambrough, is believed to have taken her own life inside of her luxury Chelsea apartment. Her lifeless body was discovered by her assistant in the early hours on Monday morning and a medical examiner is expected to determine the cause of death.

Details regarding the alleged suicide surfaced online shortly after news of her death broke, they are yet to be verified.

Scott, who was just 49 at the time of death, was the longtime partner of English rocker Mick Jagger. The pair began dating in 2001 and the Rolling Stones icon is said to be "completely shocked and devastated" over her death, according to ABC News.

Jagger, 70, is currently on tour as part of his band's "14 On Fire" tour. The recently arrived down under for the Australian leg of their tour.

"Looking forward to the first show in Perth," Jagger tweeted on Monday.

Scott was a leading designer and stylist to the stars whose celebrity clientele boasted the likes of First Lady Michelle Obama, Angelina Jolie, Penelope Cruz and Nicole Kidman.

She launched her line in 2006 and her work extended to the big screen, as she designed the costumes for films such as "Ocean's Thirteen" and "Eyes Wide Shut" to name a few.

In February, she announced the cancellation of her London Fashion Week show.

In 2010 Scott designed a unique make-up collection for Lancome and in 2011 she launched a handbag named the "Lula" after her mother.

Members of the fashion community and fans took to social networking sites following the news of Scott's untimely death.

"RIP l'wren scott. One of the best in fashion. Wow. Unbelievable," fashion expert Christos Garkinos tweeted.

"I'm so shocked and sad to hear about L'Wren Scott. To me, it couldn't have been more unexpected," Meenal Mistry tweeted.

"Omg!!!! Stunned by the sad news about L'wren Scott! Soo incredibly sad," one fan tweeted.
