Macbook Air Rumors: Thinner and Lighter Device Coming June 2016

After Apple's launch of several new devices this year, fans are now looking forward to see a thinner and lighter MacBook Air in 2016.

Rumor has it that Apple is planning to end the 11-inch line and release 13 and 15-inch versions of the newest MacBook Air. The launch of the new device is expected to coincide with the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) that will be held in June 2016, according to Macworld.

The information was translated from Taiwan-based publication Economic Daily News, which reported about the June 2016 unveiling of the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models. Earlier rumors suggested that Apple was considering discontinuing the MacBook Air lineup in favor of the more portable MacBook, Realty Today reports, citing an IGN post.

It is worth noting that it has been eight years since Apple last launched a MacBook Air, so it seems that next year is the right time to update the product line. The new MacBook Air is also rumored to be available in the market either in the third quarter of 2016, Tech Times relays.

The upcoming MacBook Air is expected to be thinner and lighter than its predecessor. It would also have better specs, including an improved battery and the USB Type-C port. Rumor has it that the newest MacBook Air models will feature a Retina display and will run on Intel Skylake processors, the report details.

The latest rumors hint that the latest MacBook Air will be a combination of the MacBook Pro and the MacBook's best specs and features. The 3D touch is one of the rumored features of the device. This was first incorporated in the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus smartphones.

As of now, pricing details on the next MacBook Air are still unavailable, and Apple has not yet confirmed all the rumors about the device. More information and leaks are expected to emerge in the next few months.
