MacBook Pro 2016 Release Date Rumors and Updates: Major Upgrade Behind Launch Delay? Features and Specs Detailed

After its non-appearance in Apple's September event, fans have been clamoring for the highly-anticipated MacBook Pro 2016 lineup. The device has been delayed for so long, but it may be worth it as it was most likely caused by a major upgrade.

Delay Due to Upgrade

It is no secret that the new MacBook Pro 2016 would most likely run Intel's Kaby Lake processing chipsets. The new top of the line processor will be seeing action in most, if not all, laptops and desktop devices this year.

However, Intel will not be releasing the Kaby Lake lineup until the fourth quarter of the year. As it will most likely be launched at the near end of October or mid-November, the MacBook Pro 2016 will have to wait until then. Apple CEO Tim Cook had previously reassured and even teased the public of the upcoming laptop lineup this year.

Other Upgrades

Tim Cook also said that the Apple development team is doing its absolute best to bring only the highest end features to the MacBook Pro 2016. With this, other significant upgrades are to be expected of the new laptop line.

Along with the Kaby Lake processors, AMD's Polaris chipset will provide powerful graphics processing to the MacBook Pro 2016. The two for one punch provided by these two processors, coupled with the optimized macOS Sierra environment, would ensure smooth performance to the new lineup.

The form factor will remain largely the same as the previous iteration though. The biggest improvement here would be the smaller overall footprint of the device, with shallower curves and thinner bezels. It will then be lighter and more portable due to the reduced form factor. It will come in two screen variants and color options of space gray, silver, and rose gold.

There are also abundant rumors about the new OLED display touch bar replacing the F function keys above the alphanumeric keyboard. It will be customizable to serve the user's purpose. The MacBook Pro 2016 would most likely have a touchscreen display to further contend with top competitors.

Touch ID will also make an appearance to further fortify Apple's already tight security measures. It will be integrated to the power button for automatic login. The MacBook Pro 2016 will also pack new SSD technologies with faster reading and writing speeds.

The USB-C port from last year's MacBook would also appear here, allowing faster data transfers. The MacBook Pro 2016 may also do away with the headphone jack, similar to the iPhone 7. Wireless headphones would likely be the new standard for Apple devices.
