'MacGyver' Season 1 Episode 19: Mac Goes to Great Lengths to Help 'Dead' Friend in 'Compass'
When Mac (Lucas Till) goes to pay his respects to a departed friend, he quickly becomes suspicious and realizes that there may be more to her death than what meets the eye in the next episode of "MacGyver."
CBS' reboot of the classic 1980s series is nearing the end of its first season, and while season 2 is already in the cards, it's no guarantee that everyone at the Phoenix Foundation will make it to the second installment. Especially with a deadly mission like the one that Mac and Jack (George Eads) will get involved in when it turns out that Mac's dead friend is not really dead.
An alumnus of the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology like Mac, Frankie (Aly Michalka) is forced to fake her own death when she finds out that someone's out to kill her to suppress her scientific research. The official synopsis for the episode titled "Compass" does not reveal what this research is all about, but it's undoubtedly a substantially game-changing one if it causes Frankie to fear for her life.

Good thing she has Mac and Jack by her side, who will set out to find and stop whoever it is that wants Frankie dead so that she can eventually go back to living her life. As to whether or not they will succeed without losing life or limb is something that fans should watch out for.
CBS has already set the show's finale episode to air on April 14, this only leaves two weeks for Mac and the rest of the Phoenix Foundation to close the book on the first chapter of their adventures. And after its successful crossover episode with another reboot series, "Hawaii Five-0," it looks like there will be more of the sort in the upcoming season 2, especially since "Hawaii Five-0" has also been renewed for an eighth run.
"The most important thing for me was to establish the fact that these two franchises co-exist in the same world tonally," Peter M. Lenkov, who serves as developer and executive producer for both shows, shared in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. "I'm hoping that this introduction — the get to know you — will ultimately be the beginning of many more of these down the road."
"MacGyver" season 1 episode 19 airs on Friday, March 31 at 8 p.m. EDT on CBS.
