macOS High Sierra Release Date News: Mac Update Arrives Later This Month

Apple has finally marked the date for the macOS High Sierra release, and it is happening later this month.

macOS High Sierra is the upcoming major operating system update that will affect Apple's Mac computer ecosystem. Like the iOS and other upcoming Apple software updates, the High Sierra will feature new applications apart from the customary performance improvement.

If the iOS 11 had the new Files app, the macOS will introduce the new Apple File System. Overall, this new program will gather all the user's saved data in one place for easier access and organization.

The Apple File System is designed with a 64-bit architecture to achieve a flash-based internal storage which will make navigation through files and folders more responsive. It will also introduce native security features such as built-in encryption.

MacBook laptops and Mac computers are some of the best options for most creative professionals. This is why it is not so surprising that Apple is also introducing several multimedia-related upgrades to the High Sierra OS.

High Sierra will support High Efficiency Video Coding or the H.265 codec to allow artists to produce 4K videos in smaller file sizes. Apple promised that high-resolution materials could be compressed by up to 40 percent more – without sacrificing its quality – on computers running on High Sierra, thanks to the H.265 codec.

Apple is also set to launch the Metal 2 program with High Sierra. Some of its newly-added capabilities include machine learning and support for external graphic cards.

The High Sierra OS was also designed to enable developers to create virtual reality content on Mac computers without much sweat.

Meanwhile, Apple has also applied several interface enhancements for the Photos app on Mac. They have also made it easier to edit images with third-party programs such as Adobe Photoshop. Apple has also made Safari function faster and has stopped advertisements from automatically playing.

According to the macOS High Sierra's official page, the update will go live on Monday, Sept. 25.
