'Madam Secretary' Season 4 Episode 2 Spoilers: Elizabeth's Crew Encounters Trouble in Libya
Elizabeth (Tea Leoni) and her team's Libyan trip will take a turn for the worst in the upcoming season of "Madam Secretary."
In the episode titled "Off the Record," the synopsis reveals that the American contingent will be traveling to Libya to help in the negotiation of the end of the civil war. Elizabeth and her squad are back in business after the messy affair involving the assistant vice minister of Timor-Leste. In the last episode, the official died while on a meeting with Elizabeth. He was poisoned by his people to prevent him from blowing the whistle on what is truly happening in his country.
A Mexican drug cartel was holding court in Timor-Leste, with the president entirely under its thumb. When Elizabeth revealed the truth behind the murder, the enemy immediately retaliated by releasing fake news that she was the one who killed the minister. The whole thing blew over via social media, with twelve percent of the American people believing that their State Secretary was a killer. Elizabeth had a tense face-off with a Senator who was determined to destroy her reputation. The man said it was only the beginning of her downfall.
In episode 2, Elizabeth will go to Libya with the knowledge that many people are doubting her integrity. Her trip will only make things worse when her group becomes embroiled in a tragic accident. The promo shows their car careening on the dirt road. While the rest of them appear uninjured, it soon becomes apparent that they hit a passing local. In the clip, the girl is shown lying on the pavement, all bloody and unmoving. The Americans will then need to get her medical care as soon as possible, or she will die.
"Madam Secretary" season 4 airs Sundays, at 10 p.m. EDT on CBS.
