'Madden NFL 16' Release Date News: EA Reveals Mid-Summer 2015 Launch Date

EA Sports has released information its "Madden NFL 16" release date for mid-summer, a date the game's enthusiasts have expected based on Madden's previous game releases.

The latest installment of the popular American football video game series, "Madden NFL 16" will be launched to the public on August 26, 2015, the same date the previous year when 'Madden NFL 15" was released.

EA's announcement of the game's launch schedule comes just two weeks before the 2015 NFL draft that's slated to take place on April 30.

Developed by Electronics Arts Tiburon for EA Sports, the NFL sim, which is currently under development, will be available for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox 360.

While EA has not released more information on its upcoming of the long-running football game, it has announced it will be revealing more details in the next month.

Last year, "Madden NFL 15" gameplay showcased a number of improvements in ball defense as well as in broadcast presentation.

Named after John Madden, former Oakland Raiders head coach, and a Pro Football Hall of Famer, "Madden NFL" features player statistics, sophisticated playbooks, and a voice commentary that mimics a live TV broadcast of an NFL football game, the series has sold over 100 million copies, with more than $4 billion in sales, and has influenced a number of players and coaches in the actual physical sport.

EA has estimated the number of "Madden NFL" fans to number between five to seven million, with nearly 50 percent of actual NFL players subscribed to the game, according to former NFL running back, Marshall Faulk. There are even reports of an underground cash-based "Madden" tournament that exists.

Due to the popularity of the game, "Madden NFL" players have recorded their gamplay and uploaded the footage on video streaming sites like YouTube, complete with commentary videos.
