Winnie has steadily been annoying Sharon with her attitude. Both of them want the Assistant Chief of Special Operations position and they would do anything to get it. Winnie is threatened by Sharon's achievements with the Major Crimes Unit and she has been doing her best to stop her rival from adding more accolades to her name.

The fight will reportedly turn explosive as Sharon loses her cool and takes Winnie head on.

In a February interview with TVLine, series creator James Duff explained what is at stake if Winnie gets the job. If she takes over Russell Taylor's (Robert Gossett) former position, the Deputy Chief of Operations will not think twice about dissolving Sharon's unit. Although Sharon has no ambition to be promoted, she would have to if it means stopping Winnie from achieving her plan.

"Sharon doesn't really want the job, but she really doesn't want Winnie Davis to have it. Winnie Davis poses a threat to the way the LAPD is presently organized, and she is especially displeased with Major Crimes. ...There's always this tension inside governmental agencies, between getting the job done and spending money," Duff said in the TVLine interview.

Meanwhile, Rusty (Graham Patrick Martin) will receive some "alarming news" from boyfriend Gus (Rene Rosado). Speculations claim they will break up soon. The couple's relationship has become unhealthy. They always fight. Gus even accused Rusty of stalking him and his boss. He could not understand why his boyfriend does not trust him. Rusty, for his part, could feel that something was off with Gus. Is Gus cheating on him?

"Major Crimes" season 5 airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. EDT on TNT.
