'Major Crimes' Season 5B: Sharon Worried About Rusty's Mental State
Rusty (Graham Patrick Martin) has come a long way from his traumatic childhood, thanks to his adoptive mother's support. Has he really let go of his emotional baggage and is completely healed in the upcoming second half of the current season of "Major Crimes"?
The new installment of the TNT series is just around the corner, but the network has yet to release new teasers on what to expect with the new storylines. Viewers are eager to see whether Sharon (Mary McDonnell) and Flynn (Tony Denison) will get married in the event that he survives what was apparently a heart attack in the last finale. Another relationship to be put under the spotlight is Rusty and Gus' (Rene Rosado) who finally admitted their feelings and started dating last season. What is worrying the fans is that recent spoilers report that someone will come in-between the couple.
Aiden Reed (to be played by Keegan Allen) is a young restaurateur who will try to separate Rusty and Gus. It remains unclear which guy he will be interested in. If Rusty loses Gus, Sharon will likely be worried about her son since he tends to bottle in his emotions and sulk. Rusty had trouble letting go of his past. He always felt he was not wanted ever since his biological mother abandoned him when he was a kid. Sharon made him see a therapist, Dr. Joe (Bill Brochtrup), who helped him accept who he truly was.
In a September interview, showrunner James Duff told TV Wise that the installment would expound on Rusty's romance.
"Rusty and Gus. Yes, that relationship grows and it goes through some of the ordinary bumps that a young gay relationship goes through, like how public are your displays of affection? I'm not sure straight people even give this a second thought but with gay people it's 'do we hold hands ever?' or 'when is it okay to hold hands?', 'do we ever kiss?'" the EP said.
"Major Crimes" season 5 will return on Wednesday, Feb. 22, at 9 p.m. EST on TNT.
