'Making History' Season 1 Episode 2 Spoilers: Can Dan and Deb Save Chris in 'The Shot Heard Round the World'?

What do a DeLorean, a phone booth, and a duffel bag have in common? They have all been used as fictitious time traveling devices.

But what do a nerdy computer science professor and a no-nonsense history professor have in common? Absolutely nothing, which as it turns out, is the perfect formula for humor in FOX's new sci-fi comedy series "Making History."

When his leisurely trips back to the late 18th century Massachusetts inadvertently prevented the American Revolution from happening, Dan (Adam Pally) enlisted the help of history professor Chris (Yassir Lester) to fix the timeline. The attempt eventually ended in Chris deciding to stay behind and restart the revolution after Revere (Brett Gelman) refused to do it himself.

Dan and Revere's daughter, Deb (Leighton Meester), then went back to 2016, only to be met by Chris' patriotic golden statue, which in turn leads the premiere's storyline into episode 2.

Titled "The Shot Heard Round the World," the upcoming episode will have Dan and Deb going back to the colonial times to keep Chris from dying. But while they will succeed in saving their friend, their attempt to fix history could be met with all sorts of obstacles as the colonists continue to resist revolting. History will be remade, but it is not clear whether it's for the better or for worse.

"Making History" season 1 episode 2 airs on Sunday, March 12, at 8:30 p.m. EST on FOX.

Four years after her previous show ended, Meester returns on television in a character that is far removed from the Upper East Side charms of "Gossip Girl's" Blair. Speaking with Vulture, Meester said that her decision to take on the role of Deb in "Making History" was fueled by her desire to be challenged while also having fun on set.

"And this came along at the perfect time," Meester added. "I still can't believe it," she said.
