Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 Update: Conspiracy Theories Swirl as Search for Missing Plane Continues
By March 2015, it will have been a year since Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 has gone missing. In the absence of evidence as to why the plane has disappeared, numerous conspiracy theories have emerged in an attempt to explain why the aircraft is still missing, according to reports.
In a recent poll conducted by CNN, 1 in 10 Americans believe that "beings from another dimension, time travelers, or aliens" may have had something to do with the plane's disappearance. 21 percent of the people polled claim that the plane could have landed rather than crashed, and they believe that the people from the flight survived.
Other conspiracy theorists, including website humansarefree.com, claim that the plane may have been hijacked and flown to a remote location. There are also websites that claim that Malaysia Flight MH17, the plane that crashed in a field in Ukraine, is in fact Flight MH370 and that it was deliberately crashed in a "false flag" operation to discredit Russia.

Meanwhile, a new book titled "Flight MH370—The Mystery" suggests that the plane may have been shot down accidentally by US-Thai joint strike fighters in a military exercise in the South China Sea.
Adding fuel to these conspiracy theories is the lack of information about the investigation on the missing plane. Malaysian government opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim has accused his country's government of holding back "missing bits of information" and he also asked how a country with "one of the most sophisticated" radar systems in the world could lose track of an airplane. Chief executive of Emirates Tim Clark likewise expressed similar doubts about the investigation.
In other news, investigators searching for the Flight MH370 say that they could finish scouring the priority zone by May. Decisions regarding the search will be made in collaboration between Malaysia, China, and Australia.
