Man Fights 23-foot Python and Succeeds
A security guard has successfully survived an encounter with a deadly 23-foot python, as it blocked two pedestrians from crossing a road in Indonesia. The man was reportedly on his way home from his job when he noticed the python blocking the road, so he tried to fight it to death.
The security guard was Robert Nababan, who was riding his moped and passing through a remote road in Riau Province in Sumatra, Indonesia when he saw the gigantic snake edging across the road and threatening to devour two pedestrians.
According to reports, Nababan and the two pedestrians joined forces to try to ward off the large reptile, but the python was too bold to surrender. As they tried to catch it, the python savaged Nababan's arm by sinking its razor sharp teeth into it while starting to coil around his body.
Some of the details of the dangerous encounter are still unclear, but while recovering in a hospital near the place of the incident, Nababan graced an interview and told reporters that he wrestled with the python for a while before it was eventually caught and killed. "I tried to catch it. It bit my arm, and we wrestled for a while," said the security guard.
Halfway through Nababan's story, the family of the victim went inside the hospital room and asked the reporters to leave. It remains unknown until now if Nababan was the one who actually killed the python or the locals who helped him catch it.
Right now, the snake is strung across Nababan's village like a washing line, its body fastened onto two pillars through a thick rope. There are speculations that the python's habitat might have been destroyed following the ongoing burning of some parts of the forest near the area where the deadly encounter took place.
