Ahead of the kick off Manchester United manager David Moyes, speaking to Sky Sports about Robin van Persie, said: "He had a groin strain during the week. I thought he might have been Ok today, but not quite. We gave it every chance up until this morning. It is nothing serious. He could have a chance for Wednesday [against Liverpool in the League Cup]."
Meanwhile, Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini, speaking to Sky Sports, said: "Alvaro Negredo starts. Edin Dzeko had a very good match in the Champions League, but we are always making some rotation and for this game I think it is better to start with Negredo. They are different players. They are both strikers. I must trust both of them and they are both in a very good moment."
