City is really trying to finish in the top three to secure an automatic spot in the European competition next year. While they can still win that competition this year, the assurance of having a slot in the UCL in the coming season is something they cannot pass off.
On the other hand, the Magpies are caught in a completely different battle.
They are 19th in the league and have only 28 points in 33 games.
Newcastle is three points from safety as Norwich City has 31 points in the season and the last safe spot in the top flight.
Things have been difficult for Newcastle as they went as much as seven games without a win in the league, but they recently broke that with a dominating 3-0 win over Swansea City.
Now they have a tough task ahead of them as they are hungry for points, but are facing a strong team in City.
