Manchester United Beats Rival City to Boost Top-Four Hopes

United outlasted City by 1-0.

It was a big day for Manchester United as they helped their hopes for a top-four finish by beating noisy rivals Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

In the Premier League battle, the Red Devils won 1-0 thanks to young Marcus Rashford's goal in the 16th minute that spelled the difference in the matchup.

City failed to stop Rashford as he continues his excellent form that has sent him to the top flight – as he has already scored four times for United in only his first two appearances in the season.

It was an uphill battle for City at the start of the game as they were already missing skipper Vincent Kompany and Nicolas Otamendi due to injuries.

Furthermore, goal keeper Joe Hart and Raheem Sterling were also unable to give their all for City which helped them lose a very important game against United.

Chances were few and far between for City as Sergio Aguero gave them the biggest chances in the game but failed to eventually convert to a goal.

As for United, Anthony Martial used his pace to stretch the defences of the home team and constantly threaten in front of goal.

Eventually, the City defence broke as Juan Mata found Rashford as the teenager eventually evaded challenges before beating Hart to score the game's first and only goal of the matchup.

The result has turned the tide in favour of United, who find themselves only one point behind City who hold the fourth spot in the table. However, they still are ways behind current leaders Leicester City as both United and City appear to be out of the title race this year.

Both teams have eight games left to play, with City left to play Chelsea and Arsenal as their biggest games. On the other hand, United have to face Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and Leicester City in their final battles.
