Manchester United Transfer Rumors, News: Arturo Vidal Deal Complicated by Knee Injury
Manchester United is looking to sign Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal but there are concerns about his current health. The club may require a complex appearance-based contract if they want to sign Vidal alongside Angel Di Maria.
During summer, the Old Trafford club has been persistent in acquiring Vidal for some much needed midfield protection but Juventus' selling price of £34 million has been a bit too high. Their desperation, however, has led them to consider the offer.
Vidal's right knee is causing some serious concerns with Louis Van Gaal, though, as United is well aware of the 27-year old's situation. Vidal has not begun to play for Juventus in the Serie A game since the 2-0 defeat at Napoli last earlier this year.
He was then subsequently asked to play for four more games before having his knee operated on as he was needed by the club to win the last season's title and progress to the Europa League.
Vidal then underwent some rapid operations to try to get him back in shape for the World Cup. Although he was able to play for Chile in the international tournament, he never managed to finish any of the games that he played. The team's doctor Alejandro Orizola described the operation as a hasty procedure and it brought with it a regression towards his final recovery.
The injuries has made Vidal's transfer to United a shaky one, since Van Gaal wouldn't want to spend the £31.8 million asking price of Juventus for a player who presents a huge physical risk.
Despite the huge setback, United will still certainly want to sign the player but will have to put him through the most vigorous of medical treatment at their Carrington training facility.
