In their clash against Liverpool, Juan Mata turned on a sublime performance with a brace to secure three points. He scored in the 14th minute before doubling the lead in the 59th with a beautiful scissor kick to put the game to bed. Those goals put Mata's output this season to seven, while Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie still lead the team with 11 and 10 goals, respectively.

Meanwhile, Villa are 16th in the league and are desperately trying to avoid reaching the relegation zone. As it stands, they are only three points above safety and need points as the season draws to a close.

They had their two game win streak snapped in a home loss to Swansea City, when they surrendered a late goal that cost them an important point. Gabby Agbonlahor leads the team with six goals so far this season, while Christian Benteke has five so far in 21 games.

When these two teams met earlier in the season, they had to settle for a 1-1 draw after Benteke opened the scoring in the 18th minute of the match.

However, Radamel Falcao found the equaliser eight minutes into the second half to make sure they go away with a point each.

Despite the score line, United dominated possession and the number of shots but were unable to convert against the stifling defence of the hosts.
