Mario Kart 8 Bundle Skyrockets Wii U Sales by 666 Percent
Nintendo's Mario Kart 8 bundle has skyrocketed Wii U sales by 666 percent.
The console is enjoying a significant boost in sales with the racer's coupling with the system accounting for 82 percent of this. The percentage boost is great news for Nintendo's console that has been trying to gain market share since its release in 2012.
Those interested in purchasing the Mario Kart 8 bundle can pick it up at Walmart for $329.
People who don't yet own a Wii U system will find it easy to get in on the action. The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Set bundle includes a Wii U Deluxe Set system, a Mario Kart 8 game, a red Mario Wii Wheel accessory and a red Mario Wii Remote Plus controller.
Nintendo offers even more incentives than just what comes with the actual bundle as customers who purchase it and register Mario Kart 8 with Club Nintendo before July 31 will receive a free Nintendo eShop download code for an additional Wii U game.
The free game allows buyers to choose from various Wii U titles including New Super Mario Bros. U, Pikmin 3, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, or Wii Party U. This is basically a 2-for-1 deal that will allow buyers to get their hands on quality titles for the Wii U.
Mario Kart 8 is one of the console's more popular titles that is all inclusive as it lets up to 12 players race together in its online play modes. The only requirement is that everyone has a broadband internet connection.
The game also features Mario Kart TV that lets players watch their highlight racing reels, rewind them, play them back in slow motion and upload them to the MiiVerse. Players with Google accounts can upload their reels directly to their YouTube channels.
The Wii U launched at the end of 2012 and has struggled to gain prominence in the gaming market since its initial release. Nintendo has offered various incentives to buyers to boost sales for the console.
