'Mario Kart 8 Deluxe' Release Date, News: Battle Mode, Resolution Detailed
Nintendo showed off the new and improved Battle Mode of its highly anticipated game, "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" at the PAX East event.
While gamers loved the "Mario Kart 8" on Wii U, its lackluster Battle Mode, which did not feature unique tracks and was instead set on the game's racing courses, turned fans off from it.
Thankfully, Nintendo is rectifying that in "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe," which will introduce a Battle Mode with eight courses strewn over five modes. It will be playable locally as well as online and even over local area network (LAN) connection.
The modes include the Balloon Battle, a "Mario Kart 8" classic that is all about popping the balloons of the opponents. Players get five balloons each.
Another one is Shine Thief, where one player should successfully keep hold of the Shine for 20 seconds. They would have to be wary of other players who can steal it by ramming into them or hitting them with an item.
"Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" is also bringing back Coin Runners from the game's Wii U version. This fast and supercharged mode is all about collecting the most coins as players race through the course.
The fourth mode, Bob-omb Blast, which is pulled from "Mario Kart: Double Dash," requires players to throw Bob-ombs at enemies.
Nintendo will also introduce a brand-new mode in "Mario Kate 8 Deluxe" called Renegade Roundup. Here, there will be two teams — one representing the law and the other are outlaws.
The former will have to send all members of the opposing team to jail with the use of some piranha plants before the time runs out.
The outlaws can use standard items in question mark boxes to make sure they are not captured. They can also bail their teammates out by pressing a button under the jail cell. When everyone is caught, it is game over for the outlaws.
Nintendo also revealed to Techno Buffalo that "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" will run at 60 frames per second (fps) in 1,080p on a docked Nintendo Switch.
It will maintain these numbers in a split screen for two players, but will drop to 30fps at 1,080p when three to four players join in.
"Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" will be released on April 28.
