'Marvel Heroes 2016' Releases with a Big Update, Including a Revised Deadpool, New Characters, Story Chapter, and More
Publisher Gazillion Entertainment has released "Marvel Heroes 2016" late last week. The title's launch is accompanied by one big update.
"Marvel Heroes 2016" has a new story chapter, updated character models, a revamped Deadpool, a new character added to the roster, controller support, and more. Here are the highlights.
Chapter 10: "Secret Invasion"
The popular MMORPG introduces "Secret Invasion" based on the 2008 comic event of the same name. In this new story chapter, players have to decide who to trust as they battle an army of Skrulls disguised as key figures and superheroes.
In addition to new enemies, players can also expect new bosses like Skrull Elektra and General Kl'rt and new environments such as Hell's Kitchen Rooftops and Helicarrier Research Wing. Chapter 10 also brings with it a full mission chain with level 60 rewards.
A new wave type, Incursions, will also be available through the new patrol zone Hightown in Madripoor. Hightown can be unlocked after finishing Chapter 10 in Story and once unlocked will in turn unlock Hightown Patrol through the Challenges tab.
Controller Support
"Marvel Heroes 2016" comes with controller support on Windows. This means Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Steam Controllers will be detected automatically with no need for additional setup. Players can switch between controller and mouse and keyboard any time without disconnecting the controller.

New and improved Deadpool
The deadly Merc with a Mouth has been upgraded with new animations, effects, and nine new moves. Deadpool also comes with a new primary resource called Awesome, new weapons, and new powers. The character has a new tank-busting cannon Real Armor Buster and two new melee weapons, a pair of sais, and an oversized mallet. His new powers include Canadian Devil that allows him to spin in circles, his new signature Server Lag that allows for more "cheating," and his new Ultimate power Kitchen Sink, a "massive version" of Canadian Devil.
New character Black Cat
The Jennifer Hale-voiced Black Cat makes her debut in "Marvel Heroes 2016." She's the 55th playable character in the title. Black Cat is described as a "Physical damage hero." She uses a whip and "tricky" remote traps.
New Team-up Agent Venom
Peter Parker's high school bully Eugene "Flash" Thompson comes to the game as Agent Venom. He uses conventional weapons and the Venom Symbiote to fight his enemies.
Other updates
Fresh out of its Mac beta, the game will be giving PC players more than 50 Steam Achievements, a new leaderboard, and new variant costumes, among other things.
Visual updates that give characters a "more realistic" appearance debut with Captain America, Jean Grey, and Black Widow. It will continue to roll out to older characters as well.
Bonus G, Chase & Halloween Costumes, and Boost Bonanza have also been revived.
The update is huge, but it's just the first of many. "Marvel Heroes 2016" players can expect more of both regular updates and big content drops.
"What we're launching today is just the beginning of what will be the biggest year yet for the game," said Gazillion Studio Director Jeff Lind in a press release. "Our awesome community expects regular updates, and they'll continue to get those — but it's the big content drops like to day's first wave of the Marvel Heroes 2016 initiative where the game will really shine. You'll see these throughout the year, and the best announcements are yet to come."
