'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' News, Update: ABC Unveils More Monstrous Threats On Season 3 Teaser Video

After a string of casting and plot news over the passing weeks, ABC has finally released the first preview for the third season of ABC's hit superhero drama TV series "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." online and it unveiled a lot of details about what to expect when the show returns to the small screen.

The footage, which was shared across multiple media outlets including Entertainment Weekly, reveals Chloe Bennet fully embracing the new identity of her character, Agent Daisy Johnson a.k.a. Quake. S.H.I.E.L.D. boss Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) was also shown. Both appear to have so many matters to attend at hand including the hunt for more Inhumans. But it looks like someone is also out there with the same goal in mind, except that his intentions could endanger them.

The character in question is Lash, which earlier casting reports confirmed to be played by athlete-turned-actor Matt Willig. Towards the end of the video, a shadowed figure was shown. Although the details are not that clear, the character can be seen with large spikes coming out of its body and it is definitely similar to the actual rendition of Lash in the Marvel comics.

Last month, executive producer Jeff Bell told TVLine that the newcomer "has a fairly strong opinion about what should happen to Inhumans." Whether it's for their own good or demise, Bell explained that fans can see Lash as more of a "wild card."

"You don't know why he is doing this — Does he have an agenda? Is he on somebody's side? So we'll be teasing that out over some episodes," he said.

Taking more hints from source materials, fans may think of Lash as a judge, jury, and executioner rolled into one who decides if the Inhuman is capable enough to survive in this world.

The third season of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." premieres Tuesday, September 29 at 9 p.m. on ABC.
