'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D' Spinoff Update, News: ABC Rekindles Interest on the Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood-starred Offshoot

Earlier this year, ABC has expressed their interest in making an "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." spinoff which would have starred the show's Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood as Bobbi Morse and Lance Hunter, respectively.

As months passed by, the cable network decided to pass along the project and instead gave the renewal greenlight to S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Hayley Atwell-led "Captain America" spinoff, "Agent Carter." The aforementioned series was nowhere to be heard.

However, new updates arrived this week suggesting that ABC is still interested in the new programming.

Citing Variety.com, the report from E! Online said that ABC "is close to a deal to order the new show" but instead of billing it as a S.H.I.E.L.D. offshoot, the show will have "an entirely new pilot." In fact, it has already been given a name: "Marvel's Most Wanted." As previously reported, it will center on the adventures of Bobbi Morse (Palicki) and Hunter (Blood).

Back in May, ABC executive Paul Lee told E! that like everyone else, he was still quite interested to see the plan realize to the small screen.

"We absolutely love those characters on S.H.I.E.L.D. We think S.H.I.E.L.D. really hit it's creative stride this year and we love it," Lee said (via E! Online). "Certainly, there's a possibility of spinning them off. We felt it was right time now to leave them on S.H.I.E.L.D."

More details were provided right over at Collider saying that ABC will likely premiere "Most Wanted" as a backdoor pilot during the upcoming third season of its parent show, "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."

It also remains to be found out how S.H.I.E.L.D. executive producers Jeff Bell and Paul Zbyszewski will make the necessary transitions of the characters into their new show. The publication added that Jeph Loeb will be joining Bell and Zbyszewski as showrunners of the upcoming series.

For the meantime, Bobbi and Hunter are slated to appear on "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Season 3 which debuts on September 29 on ABC.
