Marvel's 'Ant-Man' News: Martin Donovan Joins the Cast of Ant-Man, Film to Premiere in 2015
Another Marvel character is set to make his debut on the big screen. Ant-Man, who is described as a petty criminal who gets his hands on a substance that allows him to shrink in size but increase in strength, is set to amaze movie goers along with other impressive summer movie offerings next year.
Veteran TV actor Martin Donovan has been recently added to the cast of "Ant-Man." Donovan's role has not been announced, but according to The Hollywood Reporter's sources, his role is pivotal to the film. Donovan appeared on "Weeds," "Homeland," "Hannibal" and the Lifetime series "The Lottery."
Directed by Peyton Reed, the cast of "Ant-Man" is made up of Paul Rudd as the lead; Michael Douglas as Dr. Hank Pym, who is also the original Ant-Man who mentors Rudd's character; "Lost" alum Evangeline Lilly as Dr. Pym's daughter; and Corey Stoll, who plays the villain Darren Cross/Yellowjacket.

In an interview with AMC at Comic-Con 2014, Reed talked about the movie and what the character is all about.
"Ant-Man is interesting because he was one of the original Avengers, which I think people forget about," said Reed. "I also like that there's this sort of passing of the torch. There's sort of a weird mentor/pupil thing happening between Michael Douglas' character Hank Pym and Scott Lang, which Paul Rudd plays."
"Hank Pym used to be old Ant-Man and he is trying to find someone to be the new Ant-Man. I think that's sort of a classic Marvel Comics thing and something that we really haven't seen in that universe," he explained.
"Ant-Man" is scheduled for release on July 17, 2015.
