Fantastic Four Release Date News: Marvel Comic Book Legend Stan Lee Shares Views

Marvel's comic book legend, former president and chairman Stan Lee watched the first "Fantastic Four" trailer three times in 24 hours and shared his views.

Lee declared that the trailer showed that the film was more into the science-fiction theme than the superhero concept. The ex-chairman added that the four lead characters seemed like normal people doing ordinary things but that changed when they acquired their powers. Lee said that the concept is something to look forward to.

"Fantastic Four" received a lot of comments that it has altered the original story but Lee is not opposed to change. The comic book writer said that movies have changed the characters he wrote but he does not see anything wrong with that. A good example is Thor who started out as someone who "walked with a cane" but when he was changed in the movie, Lee thought it was "wonderful."

Aside from the change of theme, Johnny Storm who is originally a white character in the comic book is now played by black actor Michael B. Jordan. The character change gained some negative comments from the fans. As for Lee, he said that it is not a problem and he even suggested that there should be "more black heroes."

"Change is good" is Lee's mantra especially if it is for progress. Watching the same film repeatedly several times is not good, therefore, change is important for development.

Lee was also asked if he would like to make a cameo in "Fantastic Four." The former president said that there are no talks regarding that and he has no information where the cast and crew are filming. However, Lee added that it would be nice to have a "special pickup shot in Los Angeles" and it will be easy since the crew knows how to contact him.

The "Fantastic Four" trailer featured Miles Teller as Reed Richards, Kate Mara as Sue Storm, Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm and Jordan as Johnny Storm. The clip showcased the ordinary lives of the four Lead characters before the time they gained superpowers. The film will reportedly highlight the transformation of the young adults into superheroes.

"Fantastic Four" will hit theaters on Aug. 7.
