Marvel's 'Inhumans' Cast News, Air Date: 'Game of Thrones' Alum Iwan Rheon Signs On As Lead
Marvel's "Inhumans" has found one of its stars in "Game of Thrones" alum Iwan Rheon. The straight-to-series drama will feature Rheon in the role of Maximus, brother to the king, Black Bolt.
According to Deadline, the upcoming ABC drama will follow Black Bolt and the royal family, which includes Rheon's Maximus, a smart and charming Inhuman who is intensely committed to the Attilan people. And while Maximus does have his eyes set on the throne, he is also very dedicated to his ruler of a brother.
For those who are unaware, the Inhumans are a race of superhumans with various powers that are unique to each one. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, they were first featured in 1965 in Marvel Comics.

"Iwan's ability to be charming, roguish and still completely unexpectedly dangerous were all the different sides we needed to bring the character to life. We're thrilled to have him on board," Marvel Television Head Jeph Loeb said, according to Deadline.
Loeb is serving as an executive producer on the series, along with Scott Buck, who will also act as showrunner. "Maximus is a complex character. Likable, charming, tragic and villainous all in the same moment, and I'm very excited to have someone of Iwan's considerable talent," Buck said.
The first two episodes, which will be directed by Roel Reine, will premiere in over a thousand Imax theaters during the Labor Day weekend, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Imax premiere will run for two weeks and the eight-episode season will officially debut on television screens in the fall.
While "Inhumans" is a Marvel project and a television series, it has been said that it is not a spin-off of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," another ABC drama carrying the Marvel name. Rheon, whose credits include "Game of Thrones," "Vicious," and "Misfits," is the first actor to be cast.
Marvel's "Inhumans" will premiere in September on ABC.
