'Mass Effect: Andromeda' News and Updates: Protagonist's Name Unveiled?
In what could be one of the most exciting reveals for "Mass Effect: Andromeda," a Reddit user, and obviously a huge fan of the franchise, has most probably uncovered the name of the protagonist in the upcoming game.
There have been little or no details at all about the upcoming game, except for the revelation that the installment won't be seeing Commander Shepard, the hero every fan of the "Mass Effect" franchise knows. However, the new piece of evidence that Reddit user Benelioto saw in the most recent trailer is one of the key aspects to build theories and debates as to what the game could offer.
According to Eurogamer, the newest trailer was released during the annual N7 Day celebrations last week. Hawk-eyed Benelioto was probably just busy watching the trailer when he spotted something that could reveal the protagonist's name.
At 0:44 of the trailer, a dog tag lost inside a spaceship is gleaming in the bright rays of the sun. Benelioto suggests the name on the tag reads "RYDER."
The outlet further explores other hidden secrets in the trailer. There seems to be a photo with two children that could suggest Ryder may have a family or probably children who he considers as part of his life.
Benelioto also suggests that the protagonist's name may be derived from Sally Ride, the first American woman who stepped in outer space. This could be true as other users started making theories out of the Johnny Cash track used in the trailer revealed during E3 2015.
The song is entitled "Ghost Riders in the Sky," and according to other fans of the game, it could only make the name "Ryder" much more likely to be used for the hero.
While the developers and publishers have done a good job of keeping key information from fans and followers of the "Mass Effect" franchise, fans, such as Benelioto and other leaks way before the trailers were launched, have become ways for gamers to somehow feel at home with the fourth installment.
"Mass Effect: Andromeda" is scheduled for release sometime in 2016.
