'Mass Effect: Andromeda' News: Multiplayer Mode Will Involve Strike Teams, More Details Revealed

Strike Teams inside 'Mass Effect: Andromeda' will not be made up of the player's squadmates

"Mass Effect: Andromeda's" developers have recently shared plenty of new details about the new game's multiplayer offering, and the latest revelations are related to Strike Teams.

First off, producer Fernando Melo revealed over on Twitter that these Strike Teams will be present to give players an alternative. Instead of players always needing to be the ones who complete the multiplayer missions, these Strike Teams can effectively take their place.

The Strike Teams will need a set amount of time in order to finish the different multiplayer missions that players assign to them.

Now, if a player asks a Strike Team to complete a particular mission and it successfully does so then it will receive the corresponding rewards attached to that task.

On top of that, the members of the Strike Teams themselves will be able to receive experience points after they successfully complete multiplayer missions in "Mass Effect: Andromeda."

Some of the multiplayer missions that Strike Teams take on can be repeated as well, though players should know that they will only reap the coveted rewards the first time a specific objective is completed.

One more thing, players should know that the Strike Teams present inside the game will not be made up of their squadmates but out of other characters instead, according to a recent tweet from the game's lead designer Ian S. Frazier.

This likely means that players will have to look carefully for the correct Strike Team members to make sure that they are able to finish multiplayer missions more often than not.

Aside from Strike Teams, "Andromeda's" multiplayer component will also feature revamped progression and gameplay mechanics.

Unfortunately for players, a beta test for the game's multiplayer component will no longer be provided, but it will be playable at the PAX East event that is set to get started on March 10, according to a recent post on BioWare's blog.

"Mass Effect: Andromeda" will be officially released on March 21.
