'Mass Effect,' 'Titanfall,' 'Battlefield' Release Date Scheduled in March 2017

Video game publisher Electronic Arts has confirmed recently that "Mass Effect: Andromeda," a new "Battlefield" title, and a "Titanfall" sequel are scheduled to release in 2017.

EA revealed the release date information through its third quarter earnings call that was held on Thursday, Jan. 28.

"An all new Battlefield game from DICE will arrive in time for the holidays. We are excited to have a new Titanfall experience coming from our friends at Respawn, and of course Mass Effect: Andromeda from the team at BioWare will launch later in the fiscal year," EA Chief Executive Officer Andrew Wilson said during the latest earnings call.

EA Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgensen also gave more details. He said "Battlefield" will come in the third quarter as previous titles in the franchise typically have. For "Titanfall" and "Mass Effect: Andromeda," Jorgensen said they are not announcing the release dates yet. He did say, though, that gamers can assume that the two games will be launched "in the back half of the year as well," citing the second quarter as being dominated by sports titles.

Nothing much is known for certain about "Mass Effect: Andromeda," but EA's Dan Vanderlind had previously confirmed that the company was already working on the next "Battlefield" installment. The upcoming game is rumored to be called "Battlefield 5: Apocalypse."

As for "Titanfall," Wilson commented during the earnings call that it was too early to start talking about the game's details. He did say, however, that from what he has seen of the game, the next installment of "Titanfall" is "looking fantastic."

In addition, the EA CEO said the company's relationship with the game's developer Respawn Entertainment is also "extremely strong." He said EA has "great faith" that Respawn will be able to create a "spectacular" game. The company will be sharing more details about the upcoming "Titanfall" title "in the months ahead."
