Abortion News: Over 13,000 Unborn Babies Saved After Massive Coordinated Prayer Campaigns
The lives of more than 13,000 unborn babies have been saved as a result of coordinated prayer campaigns and peaceful activism worldwide.
The good news came from the 40 Days for Life Prayer Campaign, one of the largest international pro-life campaigns in history, Life News reported.
The campaigns, which started in 2007, have impacted people in 675 cities and 40 countries, with 725,000 individuals and 19,000 churches taking part, organizers said.
Moreover, they said that in the past decade, at least 143 abortion workers have left their jobs, and 83 abortion facilities have been shut down.
Since March 1, when the current 40-day campaign started, 362 babies have been spared from abortion. The lives of more young ones are expected to be saved before the campaign ends on April 9.
Still, the number of lives saved pales in comparison to the number of lives lost due to abortions.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in the United States alone 51.9 million babies were aborted from 1970 to 2013.
Worldwide, over the last 40 years, 1.72 billion babies were aborted, based on HLI Worldwatch figures. In China alone, doctors abort around 7 million babies yearly.
Nevertheless, the stories on how people are responding to the 40 Days for Life Prayer Campaign are encouraging pro-life advocates to pursue their cause.
Life News recalled an instance when a pregnant mother of four who was on her way to Planned Parenthood in Mobile, Alabama to get an abortion changed her mind when she saw two pro-life advocates holding placards with Bible verses on them.
After the pro-life activists spoke to her about the evils of abortion and how a nearby pregnancy center would assist her before and after the birth, the woman reportedly "turned around and walked the other way."
Shawn Carney, the president of 40 Days for Life, told The Blaze last month that the group was beginning its biggest campaign yet, with chapters in more than 340 cities in 30 countries.
"And it comes at a time when the momentum at the grassroots level of the pro-life movement is at an all-time high, and Planned Parenthood's brand is at an all-time low," Carney said.
40 Days for Life has two yearly prayer campaigns, Carney said, adding that their organization intentionally scheduled its spring campaign to coincide with Lent, the Christian season of repentance and prayer.
"We use this 40-day time period because the one thing our nation needs is prayer," he said. "So by doing it in conjunction with the season of Lent, we enter into a time when we reflect upon our own sin and our own dependence upon God, and also our culture's need for God, and our culture's need for his love and for his compassion."
