'MasterChef Junior' Season 5 Spoilers, News: New Episode 'Pie-Eyed' Airs March 23
Richard Blais makes an appearance as a guest judge as the Top 12 face a pie-making challenge. Later in the show, the young chefs must use a blowtorch to make a dish of their choice. This episode of "MasterChef Junior" will air on Thursday, March 23, at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) on Fox.
In the seventh episode of season 12 of "MasterChef Junior," pies take center stage in an episode aptly titled "Pie-Eyed," according to Pretty Famous. Another guest judge makes a visit to "MasterChef Junior," and this time it is Richard Blais of the "Top Chef" fame. The former judge of "Top Chef Boston" will be taking on a familiar assignment as he prepares to judge the remaining Top 12 contestants as they take on their next challenge, the summary from TV Guide details.
As part of their next test, the remaining 12 young aspiring chefs must split into teams made up of three members. Out of the possible four teams, there are some interesting combinations that could arise from this grouping — which team could end up having the strongest members?
The four teams, each having three members, will be given just ten minutes to make as many pies as they possibly can. As usual with the show, quality must not take a back seat to quality - the pies must pass a strict set of criteria from judges Gordon Ramsay, Christina Tosi, and guest judge Richard Blais. Which three of the remaining 12 contestants will win out at the end of this pie challenge?
Later in the episode, the children will have to use a particularly hazardous piece of kitchen equipment. The aspiring chefs must use a blowtorch to make a dish of their choice — an appetizer, an entree, or a dessert — no main course is required of them at least.
Aside from having to use the blowtorch, they can only make use of the ingredients in the "MasterChef Junior" pantry.
