'MasterChef' season 6 episode 16 spoilers and episode 15 recap: Tommy is eliminated; Gordon blows up at the contestants
The end is drawing closer for the contestants on "MasterChef" as the top 6 participate in another team challenge on the next episode. The episode is titled "The Restaurant Takeover" and it will require the contestants to take over a popular Los Angeles restaurant.
The contestants will be split into two teams. The blue team will be led by Derrick, while the red team will be led by Stephen. Katrina and Hetal will be on Derrick's team, while Nick and Claudia will be on Stephen's team. Both teams will have to prepare two entrees and two appetizers to the diners. And of course being a restaurant challenge, Gordon will be expediting, which means he will spend half the episode shouting at everyone. So, who's going to get chewed out the most by Chef Gordon? Well, stay tuned to find out.
The losing team will face another pressure test. The pressure test will involve creating three different pasta dishes for the three judges. Will the blue team finally win a team challenge, or will the red team keep up its winning streak? Fans will have to wait and see.
In the previous episode, there was another mystery box that featured coffee. The top 3 were Derrick, Nick, and Hetal. They all made dessert, but it was Nick who won the advantage. Nick got to choose the pairs for the upcoming tag team challenge. He paired Derrick and Stephen together, thinking that they would clash because of their larger-than-life personalities. He also paired Tommy and Katrina together because he knew that they would get on each other's nerves. The final pair was Claudia and Hetal.
In the tag team challenge, the pairs had to recreate a summer party platter, and in true MasterChef fashion was entertaining to say the least. Katrina and Tommy kept on shouting at each other throughout the cook, which caused discord that showed on the platter. Hetal and Claudia were the most organized and calm but lost track of time, which made the platter look like it's been eaten. Not surprisingly, Derrick and Stephen put out the best platter, despite the animosity toward each other. Derrick even took a step back and let Stephen take the lead. The last minute of the cook was the most stressful, but everyone pulled it off in the end. The dynamic duo of Derrick and Stephen won, while Katrina and Tommy found themselves at the bottom two. In the end, Tommy was eliminated.
