'MasterChef' season 6 finale spoilers and episode 18 recap; Nick is eliminated
This is it! The number 1 culinary competition in America is about to come to an end. A new MasterChef winner will be named. So, who will it be? Will it be Claudia, Stephen, or Derrick who takes out the coveted title?
The upcoming episode will be a two-hour episode. The first episode is titled "Team Gordon Ramsey," while the second episode is titled "The Finale." The official synopsis reads, the sixth season ends as the top 3 contestants create dishes for 30 restaurant guests who are in the judge's culinary orbits. The winner will earn an automatic spot in the top 2, while the other two chefs will face a pressure test involving three classic recipes. Later, the winner is chosen after the top 2 compete for the trophy, a book deal, and the $250,000 grand prize.
In the preview for the finale, fans will get to see the contestants cook right in front of some established chefs and restauranteurs. It's a sight that fans have seen before in the previous seasons and shows which contestant has nerves of steel. After that, it's the final showdown for the title in front of a huge crowd that includes the eliminated contestants, a few past winners, and most of all the loved ones of the final two.

The previous episode began with a team challenge. Nick had the first pick and he chose Claudia. The challenge was they had to create two dishes, an appetizer, and an entrée from two boxes of ingredients chosen by Gordon Ramsey and Graham Elliot.
Derrick and Stephen were the blue team and they had Gordon's box, while Nick and Claudia were the red team and they had Graham's box. Both teams struggled throughout the cook, and while it seemed that the lack of communication between Derrick and Stephen would cause their downfall, it was Nick and Claudia who ended up in the pressure test.
The pressure test was another baking challenge from Christina Tosi who required them to make a malted chocolate cake. She deemed this cake a difficult one citing years before one could master it and they had 90 minutes to make it. Nick's cake looked nice but tasted weird, while Claudia's cake did not look good but tasted great. In the end, taste won over presentation and Nick was eliminated.
