'Masters of Sex' season 3 episode 9 spoilers and episode 8 recap: The surrogacy program begins
On the next episode of "Masters of Sex" titled "High Anxiety," the synopsis states that Masters (Michael Sheen) will continue with his surrogacy program, which is now under the critical eye of Johnson (Lizzy Caplan).
In the promo for the next episode, which is called "The Suffering Male," Daniel (Josh Charles) is looking for a reason to stay as Johnson tells Masters that she doesn't want to help him with his surrogacy program. In the meantime, Libby (Caitlin Fitzgerald) will be visited by a mysterious man from her past. Masters and Johnson will continue to clash over the program as Johnson believes that it is unethical.
The preceding episode began with Gina as she lied to Bill about being sick, while she sat next to Daniel in a Las Vegas hotel and making him believe that it was his idea to have her stay home and recuperate. Gina opted to do some field work instead of the rest and relaxation that Daniel intended. Daniel pitched a sale of perfumes to the casino owner but is nearly turned down until Gina brought on the hard sell.
Meanwhile, Bill had gotten help from Betty (Annaleigh Ashford) to start his surrogacy program. The program required volunteers that can't be paid as it can be counted as prostitution. Plenty of women signed up for the program including Nora (Emily Kinney), who reminded Bill of a young Gina. Nora had taken an interest in Bill lately.
Betty and Helen (Sarah Silverman) tried to con Bill when they dressed up Austin Langham (Teddy Sears) and had him pretend to be Helen's husband. But that failed dismally as Bill examined Helen and immediately realized the ruse. Bill fought with Betty about bringing her personal life into the lab, which is hypocritical since he does that as well.
The episode ends with Helen losing her virginity to Austin Langham in an effort to make a baby, while Betty helped her through it while Gina pushed Bill away in favor of Daniel.
Masters of Sex airs every Sunday.
