Matt Damon Headlines Marketing Video for Ridley Scott's 'The Martian'
Matt Damon has appeared in a promotional video for Ridley Scott's upcoming space film, "The Martian," together with an all-star cast.
The video, posted under YouTube account, Ares: Live, isn't am official trailer for the upcoming film, but appears as a piece of the film's storyline shot as a video to promote "The Martian."
Damon appears holding and operating a handheld camera where he proceeds to interview his companions, a crew of astronauts, as they prepare for a journey to Mars.
Damon, who plays astronaut Mark Watney, introduces his co-stars: played by Jessica Chastain, Kate Mara, Sebastian Stan, and Michael Peňa, soliciting their input on their coming journey.
"The Martian" marks Ridley Scott's fourth science fiction epic since "Alien" in 1979, "Blade Runner" in 1982, and "Prometheus" in 2012.
It follows the story of astronaut Watney, who is presumed dead and left stranded on a manned mission to Mars after he is abandoned when rest of his crew evacuate the planet following a fierce surface storm.
Watney is left with limited supplies, his ingenuity, and a will to survive, despite very slim chances of a rescue.
The video for "The Martian" appear similar to the viral marketing clips used for "Prometheus," starring Michael Fassbender, and appears to be the promotional medium director Scott is partial to using instead of trailers to tease his films.
"The Martian" also stars Kristen Wiig, Jeff Daniels, Sean Bean, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Naomi Scott and is scheduled for theatrical release on November 25, 2015.
